marc roy

Hello, my name is Marc Roy, a licensed psychologist with over 17 years of experience in the field. For the past 14 years, I have been actively working in a private practice, specializing in counselling adults, couples, men, and first responders, as well as individuals with a history of trauma.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology, which allows me to provide a comprehensive approach to treatment. My therapeutic approach is client-centred, where I help my clients find their inner strength and coping skills.

I utilize a combination of evidence-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.

I chose to become a psychologist because I have always been fascinated by the workings of the human mind. I find it fulfilling to help people overcome challenges and improve their mental health. What I love most about being a psychologist is seeing the progress and positive changes in my clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities such as skiing (downhill and cross-country), biking, and hiking. I am also a soccer coach and an avid music enthusiast who enjoys collecting vinyl records, attending concerts, and discovering new music.
My work style is warm, empathetic, and professional. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where my clients can explore their thoughts and feelings. If you are seeking a compassionate psychologist who is committed to helping you achieve your goals, I invite you to contact me to schedule an appointment.

Psychologist | Yoga Teacher | Meditation Guide

I am a compassionate healer and truth seeker. I weave the wisdom teachings I have learned from nature, psychology, yoga, and meditation into my therapeutic approach.
Foundationally, I am rooted in humanistic psychology and I believe in the potential of growth and transcendence for all human beings.

With all of the people I am honoured to work with over the past 2 decades, I continue to expand my knowledge and wisdom of the human journey and continue to gather new and innovative ways to be a guide, pathfinder, and healer.

I am an expert (10,000+ hours) in the following modalities:

  • Psychotherapy
  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Conscious Breath
  • Group Facilitation
  • Nature bathing

In my work, I aspire to be a mindful, compassionate, and results-inspired psychologist. I believe the first step to any journey is forming an intentional relationship with each individual, which allows for, and at times opens up, a path towards change. This journey of change and growth enables the integration of balance throughout the individual’s emotional, cognitive, physical, social and spiritual ways of being.

Through all that I have experienced, I continue to believe that all of us are capable of living rich and meaningful lives full of connection and happiness.

If you are interested in working with Tara individually, she has a waiting list of 3 – 6 months.

Shantelle Szuch

Hi there! My name is Shantelle Szuch and I’m a psychologist with a passion for helping others find their clarity. I have been practicing since 2006 when I became provisional and received my full license in 2011. With a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Science in School Psychology, I specialize in formal assessment (clinical predominantly), and trauma-specific intervention. I am certified in TFCBT and trained in CPT and BOS.

My work style is professional and blended, including both evidence-based and research-based interventions, along with intuition and progressive intervention. I align very much with narrative approaches in both assessment and therapy, and I am highly client-directed, believing firmly that the client is the expert in their own life.

I became a psychologist “by default” as it was the path of least resistance, but what brought me the awareness to the field is my older sister who is also a psychologist. What I love most about being a psychologist is helping people find their clarity, whatever that may be.

In my free time, I used to compete in 5 pin bowling for 30 years, but retired almost a decade ago. Nowadays, I mostly focus on powerlifting  (having competed since 2007). I also have two daughters, a dog, and a cat. In 2016, I helped create and launch the Canadian Powerlifting Union ethics committee, which I have chaired since, but I am finally passing it on to my successors this year.

What is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is a type of therapy that helps children and teenagers who have gone through tough experiences like abuse or violence, and their parents or caregivers. It’s a treatment that has been proven to work and is based on scientific evidence.

TF-CBT uses different techniques to help kids and teens deal with their emotions and thoughts related to the traumas they have experienced. It also involves working with their families or even in groups if that’s helpful.

This therapy combines different approaches to best support children and teens affected by trauma. It considers that trauma can affect how we think, behave, and feel. TF-CBT focuses on creating a safe and understanding environment where kids and teens can talk about their experiences.

The therapy includes activities that are sensitive to trauma and uses strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy, which helps children understand how their thoughts can influence their feelings and actions. It also includes family and humanistic principles, which means it considers the importance of family support and treats individuals with kindness and respect.

TF-CBT is effective for children and teens between the ages of 3 and 18 who are dealing with strong emotions like fear, anxiety, or sadness because of traumatic events in their lives. It can be used for those who have experienced one traumatic event or multiple traumas.

By using TF-CBT, therapists can help children and teens process their traumas, manage their emotions, and improve their overall well-being. It’s a treatment that gives them tools to cope with the difficult things they have been through and helps them feel better.

Lucienne Henry

You and I are two people sitting together, each an expert in our own lives, and my job is to help you live a full meaningful life, whatever that looks like for you!

I work from a relational standpoint. I believe that when I am sitting with my clients, we are two people who are both experts in their own lives. I am dedicated to helping others live a full, purposeful, meaningful life. I work with individuals and couples across the lifespan from 5 to 95!

In my work with individuals, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my practice which focuses on being present, opening up, and doing what matters. In my work with couples, I use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) which looks at issues that arise in a couple dynamic not at the fault of either person but as a pattern that has developed in your relationship, that we work to identify and learn to work with.

I also blend in approaches from other methods and theories, such as Play Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Positive Psychology, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Nature or Eco Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I also try to embody in my work a Two-Eyed Seeing perspective, which honours traditional Indigenous knowledge and teachings with psychological practices. All services that I offer are available in English and are offered in both Lacombe and Red Deer, or online if requested.
I chose this career because it brings me great joy and purpose to be able to connect with many people and help them on their journey to a more meaningful life. I was born, and raised in Lacombe County, and have a passion for helping my community, including those who live in rural areas. If you are from a small community like me that also means you know that it’s a small world and a small bunch of communities we live in! I assure confidentiality with all my clients, as it is my responsibility as a psychologist! I live on an acreage in rural Lacombe County with my fiance, four dogs, two cats, thirty chickens, and horses. I also have multiple gardens, fruit trees, and bushes. I love reading fantasy books, spending time with my fur family gardening or planning my garden in the winter!

Your story matters. It takes courage to seek out support and to find a safe place where you feel seen and can begin to sort out steps toward the change and growth you are hoping for.

I am thrilled to be joining the excellent team at Cirrus as I complete my final counselling practicum. I wear many hats including wife, mom of four kids, and serving in various other roles. Since graduating in 2009 from Taylor College and Seminary with a BA in Psychology I have held a goal to remain a lifelong learner. In 2021, I decided to return to school in pursuit of becoming a licensed Psychologist. Throughout my studies, my goal has been to gain understanding of evidence-based therapies that will support real results for clients.

I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused CBT for children/adolescents (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). In addition, I have a particular interest in the Gottman Method for couples, and in the “parts work” of Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can heal, grow and move toward the things you value most. If you are ready to invest in yourself I hope you will reach out.

McKenna Causey

Welcome! My name is Mckenna, and I am a current Master of Education in Counselling Psychology student at the University of Lethbridge. I have a degree in psychology with distinction from the University of Calgary. At a young age, I realized becoming a psychologist was my future calling and I have been working towards this path ever since. I chose this career because I gain purpose through supporting others and giving back to my community.

I use an integrated therapy approach, and a term that fits me well is an existential-humanistic practitioner. This means I focus on love, purpose, and meaning making, while recognizing that humans are wired for connection. I believe the relationship I cultivate with my clients is crucial in creating a safe space to foster growth. I value being genuine, empathetic, and giving unconditional acceptance and support. I believe clients want to become the best version of themselves, and I am here to support them on their journey through change and growth. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention techniques, and I am looking forward to further expanding my professional toolkit as I grow as a counsellor.

Outside of work and school, I enjoy playing competitive ringette, getting my groove on in zumba, and curling up under at least seven blankets with hot tea and a good book. I also enjoy spending time with my fur kid, Morrie.
